The Daytona 99s club was first established at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) as a collegiate chapter. The name of the club back then was the Daytona Beachin Eagles 99s. However, since men are not allowed to be a member of the Ninety-Nines, ERAU would not let the club operate on campus and the club needed to pivot.

With hard work from several members, in December 2015, the club was transferred to a regular chapter. At that point, the name of the club changed to the Daytona 99s.

Current leadership is continuing to build on all the hard work and membership of previous groups and bring regular flying, volunteer and social opportunities to our members. Our major goal for 2024 is to establish a scholarship fund and we invite you to donate if you are able.

We welcome any input, recommendations or thoughts from the club.

First meeting of The Ninety-Nines, November 2, 1929

The organization was founded November 2, 1929, at Curtiss Field, Valley Stream, Long Island, New York. All 117 women pilots at the time were invited to assemble for mutual support, the advancement of aviation and to create a central office to keep files on women in aviation. Louise Thaden was elected Secretary and worked to keep the group together as they struggled to establish themselves and to grow. Those early purposes continue to guide the organization today.
