A Soaring Start to 2024: Daytona Beach Ninety-Nines’ First Quarterly Meeting

As the sun set over DeLand Airport, the Daytona Beach Chapter of the Ninety-Nines gathered in the historic setting of the Commemorative Air Force Hangar for our first quarterly meeting of 2024.

The First Meeting to Kick Off 2024

Our meeting spot, nestled among vintage aircraft, couldn’t have been more fitting. The Commemorative Air Force Hangar, with its rich history and awe-inspiring collection, served as the perfect backdrop for an evening of sharing and inspiration. As we gathered amidst the relics of aviation’s past, we were reminded of the legacy we carry forward as the Ninety-Nines.

Warm Welcomes and Exciting Announcements

The evening kicked off with introductions, a warm and welcoming tradition that never gets old. It was a mix of familiar faces and new ones, each sharing the same zest for aviation. A special welcome was extended to our new Social Media Chair, Amber, and our Fundraising Chair, Jennifer, whose enthusiasm and fresh ideas are set to invigorate our chapter’s endeavors.

One of the most significant announcements of the evening was the setting of our annual dues at an incredibly reasonable $10 for the entire year. This decision underscores our commitment to making the Ninety-Nines an accessible and inclusive community for all women pilots.

Invaluable Insights and Discussions

Kirsten, our Chapter Chair, skillfully guided the meeting, providing a background on our speakers and addressing key meeting items. Her leadership and organization set the stage for a productive and engaging evening.

Our Scholarship Committee Chair, Amanda, then took the stage, leading a two-part discussion. She began by outlining the exciting opportunities available through our scholarship program this year, emphasizing the impact these scholarships have in supporting aspiring women in aviation.

Looking to the Horizon

As the meeting came to a close, we all left feeling more connected, inspired, and ready to tackle the year ahead. The Daytona Beach Ninety-Nines are not just a group of women pilots; we’re a vibrant community, a strong support network, and a source of inspiration for each other.

The Daytona Beach Ninety-Nines are part of the international organization of women pilots, The Ninety-Nines, Inc., established in 1929 by 99 women pilots with Amelia Earhart as its first President. We strive to promote the advancement of aviation through education, scholarships, and mutual support while honoring our unique history and sharing our passion for flight.

Our first quarterly meeting of 2024 has set a fantastic tone for the rest of the year. We eagerly anticipate the heights we will reach together, filled with growth, adventure, and stories to be shared.
